The Biggest Treat: Time for yourself

The modern world is advanced, convenient, offers a lot of comfort, but at the same time busy, anxious, crowded, and sometimes too artificial.

You get up early and go to work every day, you check your emails with your blackberry constantly, you plugin your ipod while you’re on the subway, you go to client meetings, get on conference calls, go for coffee chats, and do credit card roulette with coworkers, and finally when you get home in the evening, you jump on facebook, MSN Messenger, and start random conversations with people you may or may not actually know.

This is not time for yourself. And come to think about it, 99% of your time is occupied with things that have nothing to do with you as a person or life as life itself. You try very hard to please your boss, make your friends happy, make a lot of money, not to let your parents worry, care for your boyfriend/girlfriend, and help others who turn for your advice.

What about yourself?

So you think you can hide behind a computer screen and pretend to be someone you are not? Or go on a trip to a faraway place and meet totally different people who have no idea of your history? Or you can isolate yourself from everything else when you are buried in the world of music? No, not really, you are not spending time with yourself. You are spending time with other random people, or with other random scenarios.

Solitude is a Virtue, though it might scare you in the beginning. But you need to be just with yourself from time to time, as a human being, and the only thing you need to do is to talk to yourself. Yes talk to yourself on a sunny Sunday while the sky is blue, talk to yourself on the beach while there’s a breeze of wind, talk to yourself on a starry starry night while there is nobody else around.

Or maybe just walk around, check out new places and new shops; or maybe just jump on a random bus, take it to the end stop and ride it back. Make the world your world, and probably you’ll realize how beautiful everything is and how lucky you are to have the luxury to experience what life will unfold for you.

And nobody else needs to know. You define your own quality of life, and you are responsible to connect with yourself mentally and spiritually. A peaceful, clear, yet energetic state of mind is the most precious thing you could ever have and you have no idea what amazing new journeys your mind will lead you through.

Power Down. Log off. Unplug…Have Mercy on your thumbs…Browse the world wide something else…Send some not-so-instant messages…Undo. Hit cancel. Be together…Make face time.

Especially with yourself.

Time for ourselves is importance. We need to stay in tune with the internal states to grow. Somethings inside might be screaming for our attention. Yet many people do notice and lose ability to notice. There should be sometime set aside
    for the peace within everyday.

“inside is screaming for our attention”. I like that. Both for our mind and health I guess. It’s like your body will tell you that you need to stop working now!
